Course Registration Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to registration for Introduction to Sailing and Coastal Cruising courses offered by True North Sailing Center.
By registering for a course, the student acknowledges and agrees to the following terms.
Payment & Registration
Full payment is required at the time of registration to reserve and confirm a student’s spot in the course. Registration is not considered confirmed until full payment has been received.
Student Cancellations & Refunds
If a student needs to cancel their registration, the following cancellation policy applies:
- More than 14 days before the scheduled course start date: 85% of the course fee will be refunded. A 15% processing fee is non-refundable.
- Between 7 and 14 days before the scheduled course start date: 50% of the course fee will be refunded.
- Less than 7 days before the scheduled course start date: Course fees are non-refundable.
- Cancellation timing is determined by the date and time True North Sailing Center receives the student’s written cancellation request through admin@sailtruenorth.com.
Student-Initiated Rescheduling
Requests to reschedule a course may be accommodated at the sole discretion of True North Sailing Center and are subject to availability.
Approved student-initiated rescheduling requests are subject to a 15% rescheduling fee, calculated based on the course fee.
A request to reschedule does not guarantee placement in another course date. The student’s original registration remains subject to the applicable cancellation policy unless and until the rescheduling request is approved by True North Sailing Center.
Schedule Change Requests
All cancellations, rescheduling requests, and other student-initiated schedule changes must be submitted in writing by email to admin@sailtruenorth.com.
Students are responsible for communicating schedule changes directly with True North Sailing Center. Requests communicated only to an instructor, another student, or through another communication channel will not be considered an official cancellation or rescheduling request.
Weather & Safety Policy
Sailing courses are held rain or shine. Rain alone is not considered grounds for cancellation or rescheduling.
True North Sailing Center may cancel or postpone a course when weather or marine conditions are determined to be unsafe. Conditions that may result in cancellation include, but are not limited to:
- Sustained winds exceeding 20 knots
- Wind gusts exceeding 30 knots
- Lightning or thunderstorms
- Flash flooding
- A Small Craft Advisory or other applicable marine safety advisory affecting the course area
- Any other weather, marine, or safety condition that True North Sailing Center determines makes conducting the course unsafe
The final determination regarding whether conditions are suitable for sailing will be made by True North Sailing Center.
If True North Sailing Center cancels a class due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions, the student will be offered the opportunity to reschedule to another available course date at no additional charge. The 15% student rescheduling fee does not apply to weather-related cancellations initiated by True North Sailing Center.
True North Sailing Center will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the student’s schedule when selecting an alternative course date.
If the student is unable to attend any available rescheduled course date, True North Sailing Center will refund the amount paid for the canceled course.
Student Acknowledgment
By completing registration and submitting payment, the student confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Course Registration Terms & Conditions, including the payment, cancellation, refund, rescheduling, and weather policies described above.
